Light from the Word and through the lens

Sharing the gift of abundant life requires the power and gift of God’s Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:8

[Jesus says,] “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

This photo was taken at Camp Allen, the site of Pastors DeMik, Schultz and my prayer retreat September 2009.

Who would have thought that a rag-tag band of brothers like the 11 could turn the world upside-down and be the ones through whom the whole world eventually would hear the Good News of Jesus Christ? It wasn’t them; it was the Holy Spirit working through them.

Now, if it truly is the Holy Spirit at work in them, how about the Holy Spirit’s work in you? Is the Holy Spirit any less powerful and active today? Is Jesus less needed today than 2000 years ago? I think not. Today would be a good day to consider who might be your “Jerusalem” contact: brother, aunt, c0-worker, neighbor, club-member, teacher; the list goes on…

Prayer: Fill me with your Holy Spirit, O God, so that I may be a good witness to you whenever I have the opportunity today; through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
