Deuteronomy 6:6-8
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

On our way to the evangelism and optical clinic just outside of Kilgoris, Kenya we encountered this challenging stretch of “road.” Our driver put two wheels down on the right side of the roadway (which looked as if it was used by motor bikes and pedestrians). He put the other two wheels of our bus 12 to 18 inches higher toward the center of the road. Even so, we had great difficulty, many prayers, and held our breath while he negotiated that stretch of the road.
Once past this challenge we were faced with the “driveway” into the area where the church is located and where we set up the clinic. Here are a couple more photos of the road and “driveway”.

We often encounter opportunities to talk about God along the way of life. Certainly as we faced the challenge of the road to the mission site, we prayed, and reflected on God’s power and our need for his help in every aspect of life. As we saw the other sites along the road, we also can reflect on the breadth of creation, on the various conditions of man, and the abundant, and far-and-wide-reaching love of God for all people.
We could also take inventory of our own lives regarding the blessings and wealth we take so for granted compared to so many people in the world today. This need be no guilt trip; God does not condemn us for enjoying wealth and worldly blessing. But he does condemn people who hoard their wealth, and especially those who refuse to thank God for the blessings and wealth we enjoy.
What things along life’s way today will give you the opportunity to talk with your children about the goodness of God and his commandments by which we honor him and he blesses us?
