Psalm 19:1-3
1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.

There is a beautiful and inspiring video utilizing footage from the BBC Planet Earth Series that looks at the wonder and majesty of God’s creation. Set to the song, “Creation Calls” by Brian Doerksen, this stunning glimpse of God’s masterpiece is meant to glorify Him and draw the mind to new places of intimacy with Him.
A high definition version of the video is available here.
The whole of Psalm 19, however, goes beyond the witness of creation – as inspiring and beautiful as it may be. The Psalmist speaks of the Law of God as perfect, and the personal relationship with God as including God’s work in our hearts so that our words and thoughts are pleasing to Him.
Creation is a beautiful testimony to God. But we will never learn of Jesus by creation alone. We will not be brought to saving faith by the most inspiring sunrise or sunset. For that we need God’s word, and the clear message of Jesus.
Thank God for creation – its beauty and the testimony to His creative glory! But thank God even more for the testimony of God’s word – the message of salvation by grace received through faith, founded in Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection.
That’s what we celebrate this week.
