Today is our VBS Celebration Sunday at St. John. It’s been a wild and wonderful week, with more than 500 children registered, more than 120 adult Ministry Partners, a major construction project on campus, plumbing troubles (yikes!) and a combination of blistering heat and a thunderous downpour!

This morning NJ Malenke (our Worship Minister), Pastor Stephen DeMik and I will sing the song, The Voice of Truth. I’m listening to it even how as I write this. The message today is about David and Goliath. Here’s his voice of truth:
1 Samuel 17:45-47 (GW)
45 David told the Philistine, “You come to me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Armies, the God of the army of Israel, whom you have insulted. 46 Today the Lord will hand you over to me. I will strike you down and cut off your head. And this day I will give the dead bodies of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals. The whole world will know that Israel has a God. 47 Then everyone gathered here will know that the Lord can save without sword or spear, because the Lord determines every battle’s outcome. He will hand all of you over to us.”
What voice are you listening to today. Let Jesus’ voice speak to you today: “My strength is made perfect in weakness. The battle belongs to the Lord. In all things I am working for the good of those who love me, who are called according to my purpose.” (Cf. 2 Corinthians 12: 9; 1 Samuel 17:47; Romans 8:28).
