Light from the Word and through the lens

Matthew 6:25-34

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

The following was in Nici’s purse. Matthew found it when going through her belongings. It’s well-stated and edifying.

SEVEN REASONS NOT TO WORRY

(Matthew 6:25-34)

  1. The same God who created life in you can be trusted with the details of your life.  (6:25)
  2. Worrying about the future hampers your efforts for today.  (6:26)
  3. Worrying is more harmful than helpful.  (6:27)
  4. God does not ignore those who depend on him.  (6:28-30)
  5. Worry shows a lack of faith and understanding of God.  (6:32)
  6. There are real challenges God wants us to pursue, and worrying keeps us from them.  (6:33)
  7. Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry.  (6:34)

Thanks be to God for His word and care. We need not worry in any circumstance.

    What a girl
    What a blessing
She held Him so close, like her best trusted friend didn’t she.
Reminds me of my little sister who passed from cancer when she was 8 years old.
I was barely 10 and I did not understand the depth of love she had for Jesus, like He was her very best friend…always there.
I played along cause I loved her and didn’t want to hurt her feelings, but I really didnt get it.
    I get it now.
Seems like the closer one’s who love Him get to the other side the deeper their love for Him becomes, and the more real His is.

What a deep relationship she had with her Savior. That surely makes her passing on to her eternal life easier for those left behind. I know you will miss her very much, but will know that she is safe and happy and healthy again in the care of her Lord. Her strong faith is a beautiful lesson for us all.

I am still keeping your family in my prayers.
