Light from the Word and through the lens

Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Little need be said in relation to this Bible verse; it is really rather simple. Put God first. Seek the advance and cause of His kingdom. Let Him take care of all the rest. The challenge is in the doing of those simple things.

Is God first in your life? Do you consider His will whenever you make a decision – large or small? Do you serve Him in all things? Are you willing to put yourself into His hands for life, health, and daily bread – not to mention eternity? Do your values reflect that as you choose entertainment? Does your spending reflect that His kingdom is of first priority in your life?

We don’t seek His kingdom first so that all these things will be given to us (food, clothing, life and health). We seek His kingdom first because it truly is most important of all. All else fails. All else will be destroyed. All else is subject to thieves, rust, and decay. But the eternal blessings of God’s kingdom are secured by the death and resurrection of the Son of God.

When we seek Christ’s rule in our lives we enthrone the true ruler of the universe and put ourselves on the fast track of His eternal blessings, recognizing ourselves to be recipients of His eternal favor.
