Light from the Word and through the lens

An abandoned and empty tomb
An abandoned and empty tomb

I wonder how the owner of the donkey used by Jesus on Palm Sunday treated his donkey the day before. Did he have any idea that it would be used by the Son of God the next day? As we celebrate Palm Sunday tomorrow, it would be good to realize that God does make use of our posessions; and care for them as though Jesus would ride our donkey into town tomorrow.

Luke 19:29-31 (ESV)
29 When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples,
30 saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here.
31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’ ”

And how about tombs? Jesus’ tomb was empty on Easter Sunday; a friend had let his disciples use it for three days. Since then I’m sure others have been laid to rest there. But Jesus’ body is not there.

(Mark 16:6 ESV)

“And he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. ‘”
