Light from the Word and through the lens

Matthew 10:29-31

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

My 89-year-old mother took a tumble yesterday. She was out running some errands and chose to walk from one place to another – about 3 or 4 blocks away. No problem, except it seems that she took a misstep and fell. She was on her hands and knees, she told me later, crawling toward a metal post to help her gain her feet again when a kind woman stopped her car and came to her aid. Thank you kind woman!

When I talked with her yesterday evening she seemed not too much worse for the fall. But it made me really wonder about her safety and wellbeing. She lives 750 miles away and there is no immediate family in Cape to look after her. Thankfully, however, she is in  an independent living part of a residential care facility in Cape Girardeau. Thankfully there are many people there who know her and care about her there. Even more thankfully the One whose eye is on the sparrow also had his eye on her and sent an angel to her aid.
