Light from the Word and through the lens

Hebrews 3:1-12

Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house. For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.

Letting in the Light
Letting in the Light

Sometimes it is a reminder: “Hey! What about Jesus’ word here?” Sometimes it’s an invitation: “What would you like Jesus to do for you?” Sometimes it is a call to repentance: “Have you forgotten completely about Jesus and his ways?” Whatever the mood of the message it is a call toward something very good. It is also a reminder, invitation, or call that might well be urged on all of us.

Jesus was faithful in all things to God’s will and way. He never shirked his duties. Even when he was faced with the ultimate test of faithfulness his prayer was, “Not my will but your will be done.” And his most famous angry outburst was over the abuse of the temple which he reminded the people was to be a house of prayer for all nations. Jesus loved perfectly, believed whole-heartedly, taught unswervingly, and died honorably and sacrificially.

He is worthy of all honor. His example is perfect for us to follow. His values, being, teachings, and life are the highest nature. When we consider him our minds are set on noble goodness, love, grace and truth.

Perhaps you will consider a TV ad today. Maybe you’ll consider what to have for lunch. You might even consider what action you should take at work today. Whatever the venue or decision, considering Jesus is an active process of finding true north in all of life and charting our life’s course based on based on him.
