Light from the Word and through the lens

Psalm 118:1-4

 1 Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!

 2 Let Israel say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”
3Let the house of Aaron say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”
4Let those who fear the LORD say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”

In the photo club of which I am a member I am known for taking photos of flowers. My photo gallery website is called “Flowers by God – Photos by David. Since God is the creator, I wanted to acknowledge him as such.  But I must take the photos, process and display them in some manner.

God is gracious and good. His steadfast love endures forever. And as I read the Bible it becomes more and more clear to me that God wants to be known for that more than anything else. Certainly He is mighty; He is the creator of all that exists. No doubt God is just; he will call all men to account. But look carefully at Psalm 118. The first and last verses are identical: the refrain is clear: “His steadfast love endures forever.”

The key to the meaning of the universe is expressed in Ephesians 1:6. In the end every question will be resolved in the display of God’s grace in Jesus Christ. Every one. I believe this better than I can explain it. This psalm supplies further evidence to the substance of God’s desired fame. Although he could desire to be known for any number of things, His grace, steadfast love is to be the substance of our witness.

That is the reality. We are called on to express (“say”) this. Let’s take the photo! Let’s say it: God is good; His steadfast love endures forever!
