Light from the Word and through the lens

Psalm 26

Vindicate me, O LORD,
for I have walked in my integrity,
and I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.
2 Prove me, O LORD, and try me;
test my heart and my mind.
3For your steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I walk in your faithfulness. (Click here to read the whole Psalm)

When the challenges and trials of life pile up, there is only one place to go. Worldly strength will not sustain us when we face the end of our days – or the end of the days of a loved-one. Human wisdom will not answer the deep questions of the heart when we face injustice, sin, and our own failures. Only God is faithful, strong, and good. If we turn to him we will find help, comfort, hope, and a rich spread of goodness and beauty.

The psalmist says that he seeks God constantly. He continues:

 4I do not sit with men of falsehood,
nor do I consort with hypocrites.
5I hate the assembly of evildoers,
and I will not sit with the wicked.

If you you go to God when the trials and difficulties come, should it not also be that you remain with God in times of blessing and favor?
