Light from the Word and through the lens

Read Exodus 15:11-18

“Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods?
Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? (Exodus 15:11 – ESV)

There are times when we all wonder about God’s activity – or lack of activity – in our lives. We may feel as though our prayers are not being heard. We may despair of God’s love or protection when calamity strikes. We struggle with doubt or discouragement. But the truth about God and his goodness, faithfulness and love will stand the tests of time and life’s fury.

Compare that to other gods. Money never really brings peace; only a hollow illusion of well-being. Power, beauty, karma, or transcendental meditation provide only a mirage of peace, and no true hope or help.

In the End only One will stand: The LORD who does wonders, saves his people and to whom we will all give an account. False gods will evaporate. Their promises will fall in upon themselves like a house of cards. But God has acted in our behalf. He has saved us. All who look to him will stand. He is the true God – like none other!
