Diane’s mom, Jenny Dolan, went to be with Jesus this evening at 6:15. When Diane called me, she told me that she and her dad had spent the afternoon with Mom, and that she had had difficulty breathing. She was given pain relief medication twice during the afternoon and did make a slight response to them at one time. They had left to get dinner at 6 p.m. and Gail was present when her mom drew her last breath on this earth.
We are thankful for the promise of eternal life and the hope of the resurrection. We are also thankful for the life, faith, love, and blessings of Jenny, and have many fond memories of our time with her. She was the best mother-in-law that i could ever want to have.
Funeral arrangements are not yet complete but I expect that it will be sometime early in the coming week. I will probably go to St. Charles Monday or Tuesday and return soon after the funeral.
Psalm 46:1-2
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.
Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
John 14:1-4
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.
1 Corinthians 15:52-57
In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
