Matthew 4:23
News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.

There are plenty of famous people in the world these days. From soccer players to rock stars, political figures to Hollywood actors: all these attract a following and the public’s attention. But our fascination with such famous persons has most to do with our desire to excel, or be noticed in some way. We easily live out our fantasies of fame an notoriety through these people. Somehow their fame makes us feel good.
It is interesting to note that Jesus’ fame causes people to flock to Him for healing and relief. Matthew tells us that people brought others to Jesus and he healed them. No matter the disease, whatever the cause of the pain, in the face of the strongest demon, Jesus brought relief and wholeness.
This says something important about the Kingdom of God: It is a reign of grace and goodness. It is the realm of health and wholeness. Our King is truly good, and His mercy is on bold display during these days. When we pray, “Thy kingdom come,” we are asking that the rule of Jesus would manifest itself in our lives. We are looking forward to the perfect and complete restoration of all things good. We are seeking healing and peace from the only One whose fame is truly deserved.
When you see someone today who needs healing, hope and grace, your prayer might well be: “Thy kingdom come, Lord Jesus; give us a foretaste now of what that perfect restoration will one day be.”
