Swine flu, economic melt-down, war, health crises: In the face of all of these Jesus reminds us that the beauty of the spring flowers are testimony of God’s care for us, his beloved people. If God so clothes the grasee of the field – which is here today and tomorrow is gone – how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith.
Jesus has it right on two levels (how big of me to admit that!). First of all we are people of little faith. It takes so little to knock us off balance and lead us to despair.
Second if we will look around we will see evidence of God’s providential care and gracious love abounding. We who know God’s goodness in Jesus need not fear.
Photographers almost all take photos of flowers; it’s difficult to mess up such beautiful displays of elegance and esthetics. I am no different from almost all others, except skill, eye, and attention. But I want to share my photos to invite people to look beyond the beauty and see the message of God – the reminder of His fatherly divine goodness and mercy.
And tonight we may just need to be reminded of “how much more” his love is toward those for whom Jesus died and rose again! How much more? More than we can ask or imagine!
